Inside the Notebook
The courtroom closed. The notebook didn't.
A written podcast, documentary experiment, and unfolding human–AI inquiry.
My memoir, A Trial of Color, tells the story of what happened when I spent years thinking, imagining, questioning, and working with artificial intelligence.
But the book was never the entire notebook.
This is where I open it.
Dispatches carry the questions out of the notebook and toward evidence, review, and the world.
Episodes tell the stories and explore the questions.
Glimpses show the prompts, responses, unexpected turns, revisions, and occasionally absurd moments that produced the work.
Echoes show how AI interprets the material, including its attempts to examine its own behavior. Those generated interpretations are part of the experiment, not independent expert review.
Together, they offer a look at what human–AI collaboration can make possible, what it can get wrong, and what happens when language keeps answering back.
And now something else is happening.
The questions are beginning to leave the notebook.
Two unfinished research papers are open for examination. I'm inviting actual people to bring evidence, objections, expertise, and ideas the machine and I may have missed.
You can follow the story.
Or you can help change what happens next.
